We Want You
Drivers Wanted
We are always looking for new volunteer drivers, male or female. The driving duties provide a worthwhile opportunity to “give something back” to your local community. We can pay you for your driving. All we ask is that our drivers have some common characteristics: an affinity for helping others (as many of our passengers are elderly, many of our drivers help them off the bus and even to their front door) and for driving. You will, of course, also need a clean driving licence. Age is not necessarily a barrier although you must have a D1 category on your licence. Once drivers reach 70 they are required to obtain medical clearance to carry on driving.
Our volunteers take passengers to and from :
Healthcare appointments, such as medical appointments or hospital visits
Social groups and community activities
Other activities such as a trip to the shops or even a trip out.
Our drivers provide more than just transport, they afford independence and a lifeline to the person in their passenger seat and also offer companionship, a listening ear, and a friendly chat.
This role offers flexible hours, allowing volunteers to choose how much time they would like to contribute.
